There are fewer than 500 remaining registered historic theaters in the United States. In 1981, the Ann Arbor community came together to save the Michigan Theater and include it in that number — preserving what is now a 96-year-old cultural institution and the city’s true downtown living room.

Today, the Michigan and State Theaters welcome hundreds of thousands of guests each year, bringing people together across generations to experience the power of storytelling on the big screen and on stage. Through strategic corporate sponsorships, Marquee Arts sustains this legacy while expanding access to outstanding film, live performance, and educational programming for audiences of all backgrounds.

Sponsorship benefits

Film or film series

Our sponsorship and programming team collaborate with local businesses and organizations to present a broad range of films or film series based on themes of all kinds, including filmmaker or actor retrospectives, classic and cult films, family-friendly films, holiday classics, genre series and more. Past and current sponsors have launched new businesses, sustained or grown their brand, unlocked their target audience, celebrated corporate achievements together, protected employees’ favorite local non-profit, and helped maintain quality of life and art for the entire Washtenaw County community.

Live events

We host a variety of live arts and music events in the Michigan Theater’s historic Main Auditorium. This includes sing-alongs, music and dance performances, our Not Just For Kids live theater series, and beyond.
